A New Watch

I got myself a new watch yesterday. The battery ran out a few days in my old watch. So why didn’t I just change the battery. Well the old clock was 15 €, a battery change costs 8-10 € and my new watch was 5, 90 €. You do the math.

Well I could buy a more expensive watch, something in the range of 50-100 €. There is one problem with those, they corrode away in about 5 years, well not entirely but they become useless when the corrosion reach the buttons. Or buy an even more expensive watch made of Titan. Maybe not, I need my watch to show me what time it is, nothing more.

Hello

After 10 days of vacation, 4 evening shifts and one day off it’s somewhat difficult to get up around 6 every morning (actually morning 3 out of 4)…

The return of the Fall

Well let’s put it like this, there are no snow, it’s been warm for 2 weeks. The 10 day weather forecast promises no minus degrees and the grass is green again…

A healthier day

Today is a healthier day, only a strawberry pie was left behind and we brought healthy food with us...

Thursday, November 23, 2006

Eaten

Well we have eaten it all now, except one of the wiener breads left behind…

A lot

I brought coffee bread, the other guy that works here brought coffee bread and the guys that have been working on our computer system here today brought coffee bread. Then I made a Greek salad and took some lasagne with me for “dinner” (well the food you eat in the evening is called dinner) at work. Something tells me I will be rolling home…

Back at work

Well I’m back at work after my ten days off. The first few days I had some problems with doing nothing. But last week I’ve been getting up around noon. Then getting a shower, going out walking the dog, getting something to eat, playing some WoW…

I got an easy start at work though, four evening shifts…

I thought I would be nice to my dog

I thought I would be nice to my dog and buy her a chewing bone, you know those that are made of animal skin. Usually it takes her a couple of days up to two weeks to eat one of those.

Well it lasted two hours. And a dog eating that much animal skin that fast can only mean on thing, diarrhea. I hope my neighbors forgive me but it’s not possible to get to the woods a couple of hundred meters away in time but it will rain tomorrow and it will all wash away from the pavement.

Discovery is back

I admit it; I can’t live without Mythbusters or American Chopper on my TV. On Finnish TV you can watch them once a week but on Discovery you can watch them daily. So I cancelled the two Swedish channels ZTV and TV3 that was 4.40 € per month and Instead I got the Discovery channel package which contains 4 Discovery channels and Animal planet for 9.90 €. There is however one problem, I might start watching to much TV ;-).

Beware, the common people are blogging!!!

I’m constantly exploring the blogosphere. And one the things I’ve come across are the way some elitist bloggers and journalists look down on normal people’s blogs. For example one guy wrote that he couldn’t belive that Technorati had started listing MySpace Blogs and how could anybody take anything serious that had been written on MySpace and he wouldn’t want to be on the same list as MySpace bloggers.

There are also complains about web-based blogs. The “real” bloggers use software blogs.

I’ve also read articles by journalists that explain how meaningless blogs are and that they give the illusion to common people that they can write and that blogs can’t be compared to real journalists’ work.

One of my former readers also stated that she no longer reads my blog because she can’t stand reading another line about what I had for breakfast or what shift I work. Well good for you.

Blogs are a true revolution. Rich people, poor people, smart people, dumb people… They are all writing blogs. As always when it comes to the internet, geeks in their thirties and forties have led the way. And as always once there is a way people will come. Blogs are no longer written only by the 37 year old geek writing a review about the latest Graphics card from Nvidia and read by other geeks.

People are writing about their daily lives, sometimes about their innermost feelings and sometimes about truly mundane things, like what they had for breakfast. Sometimes they write anonymous blogs and sometimes they write down their name and put up a picture. It’s their choice how they do it and if someone wants to read my blog I welcome Thee, if you don’t well it’s you loss.

And journalists, well there are people that are writing better than you and get out news stories faster than you and they do it for free, and for their own interest. Yes if I was a journalist I would be worried.

As for choice of blog platform, it all depends on kind of readers you want, the elitist snobs on Typepad that want you to feel honoured to be in their presence or the common people over at Blogger or MySpace. I prefer the last two, what about you?

Beware, the common people are blogging!!!

The big question is what is better, Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2?

The last nightshift

8 hours left to 10 days off =)

The White House

You know the television series”The White House”. It’s American, it’s political and I like it. What’s wrong with me?

1 down 3 to go

Last night’s nightshift went well. I’m doing my second now.

What’s new? Well I actually cleaned and did my laundry today, well all the bed clothes. The good thing about winter is that you don’t drag in all of these leafs and seeds that fall off the trees in the fall. Those I got vacuumed up today =).

Four nightshifts

I got the last four nightshifts before my ten day vacation =)

I can’t make up my mind

The Swedish and the Finnish blogs are back. I like my Swedish blog at Aftonbladet, I get a few of comments and it gets noticed. On the downside is that it costs, well 2 € a month isn’t that much but you get this one for free and it’s better. And I don’t have to switch websites every time I write a blog if I write all of them here.

Well, I probably will not write a post in Finnish today, or tomorrow, but when I do it’s nice to have a ready blog to write it in.

I also made the links on the “new” blogs more reader targeted, you know, Swedish links for Swedes, Finnish links for Finns. I also made the links on this blog more targeted for my audience.

I know I can’t make up my mind, according to someone who saw me together with most of my relatives for the first time, it’s an Eriksson trait. Well at least on this side of the Atlantic ;-).

Sunday, November 05, 2006

Well, I know my blog isn’t always exiting or produce high level writing. But it’s my blog and wishing everyone a good morning is a way of telling everyone that I’m alive and doing well. It’s also a way of being nice, and that is usually a good thing ;-).

I’m doing my second morning shift and I’m not tired at all this morning. Falling asleep on the sofa watching TV early last evening was probably not that bad =).

Good Morning

It’s an early Saturday morning because I got 3 morning shifts ahead…

Tired

It's been a long day. I passed the test we had at the course with flying colors =). Other that, well good night...

Too Many blogs.

Up until a few minutes ago I had three blogs on blogger. Now I have only one. I had one in Swedish, one in Finnish and this one in English. I already write a blog in Swedish at http://blogg.aftonbladet.se/5352 and another one at a member’s only website. Well actually I write only one blog in Swedish and copy, paste to the other two sites, kind of unnecessary.

Since I write a blog here already in English and most Swedish speaking people know at least some English the Swedish blog here was deleted.

Well the Finnish blog isn’t happening. I simply lack the interest to update it regularly and English is a commonly known language among Finnish speaking people.

With less blogs I can focus on the ones I have.
