French vs Japanese or?

We had two French cars, a Renault Grand Scenic and a Citroen Xsara Picasso. We traded in the Citroen for a Nissan Qashqai. The trading in part is a bit complex but never mind that, at some point we need to find a car that you you don't have to google in order to spell.

Anyway the Nissan is great, almost new and basically a Renault since Nissan and Renault made the engine together and both use it. We needed a smaller car, no need to drive around in 2 family cars. A crossover SUV is no family car. It is smaller than the Citroen and you can still put a fairly heavy trailer behind it so it fitted or needs and we got some extra features which we would have never gotten in a Toyota Yaris. It's safe and you sit quite high. So yes, liking it.

Do I really need to start blogging again?

I joined a couple of blogging communities over at Google+ simply called Blog Community and Blogging. I posted a comment on one of them so I guess I'll have to make some effort to actually start blogging again. I know I sound like it's a tedious chore but blogging was fun. I really liked it. I just haven't done it actively in a few years so I feel a bit rusty. I am a bit rusty.

But  finding some fellow bloggers to share your blog with and read an comment there is what every blogger need. A sense of community. So this could work because this is an actual blog post...

I'm back

Well I still like this blog too much to move over to Wordpress. And I really don't blog that much more because I got a smart-phone now. Not to mention that the Wordpress app for Windows phone really doesn't work that well and I got Twitter to work here on my Blogger blogs and most of my old readers do follow this blog.

One blog

I'm going to try out WordPress for a while. I'm not saying it's going to be permanent but having 3 blogs over here that is never updated isn't what anyone would call blogging. Maybe I should try to concentrate on one:

My neglected blog

Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

Same old, nothing new really. I'm just reminding myself I got a blog and found that the first few lines from Simon & Garfunkel - The Sound of Silence was rather suiting for that...

My blog

Ooops I think I forgot to update for a while. But my blog is like a good old friend. Always listening to what I have to say although it's been a while.

First Impression

I logged into the new Myspace and whatever the old Myspace was it's gone. Including your old blog posts, messages and friends. This is a whole new website. Facebook is THE social network and the new Myspace is no longer trying to be that. Instead it focuses on artists and creative people. I haven really gotten into it yet but I could be quite interesting.

Backyard ice rink

About 3 months ago I stated on this blog that I'm blogging again. I wrote one post after that. Well her I am again. Maybe I should write more and think less. It's really not that difficult, shouldn't be ;-).

Anyway I'm making backyard ice rink. Or it's really it's not that difficult. I just bring out the water hose and stand there for a while every evening or whenever I'm at home not doing anything else. After the last snowfall I used the hose without the the shower head and that caused a bumpy ice. Otherwise it would be ready now. Well it's my first ice so mistakes is a part of the process.

Anyway tonight when I get home from work I will remove the bumps with a shovel and spray on one last layer of water and it should be perfect on Saturday. I'm working most of the weekend and my wife is away on a training/health/exercise weekend. So parents-in-law will take care of the kids on Saturday at our house and have an ice rink 10 m away from the front door.

Twitter

I thought it would be a great idea to put a little twitter gadget on my sidebar. Short updates about what I do I can write on the go on my mobile that is too short for a blog post. I've started blogging again and this would be my main reason for tweeting at all. However there were a few problems.

The first one is that the sms twitter thing doesn't work. You have to send 4 sms messages to get it too work. I tried twice and it doesn't work. The second thing is that twitter update gadget on blogger doesn't work. Also Twitter own twitter update widget doesn't work and it actually has a error message: "Hmm, an empty timeline. That's weird.". No it's annoying that you have a known problem which you do nothing about. There's nothing weird about that.

Twitters own javascript for such a thing also doesn't work once inserted on to my blog. Twitter own explanation why the widget doesn't work is "The REST API (everything on api.twitter.com) is rate limited to 150 unauthenticated requests per hour per IP address." Once you exceed that limit the widget doesn't work. Discussions about that problem has been around on message boards a couple of years and Twitter's standard answer is IP related and people do not get their Twitter widget to update, ever.

Is says it should work in theory but it doesn't in reality. So I won't be tweeting from my mobile to my blog because it fails in both ends, in reality...

I'm back

It's been a while but I'm back blogging, seriously...

Should I blog more?

Yes I should. It's a good way to develop your writing skills or in my case as often as I blog, maintaining my writing skills. But then again I've been ircing a lot lately. Ircing however requires another form of writing skills apart from blogging. A quick wit  and the ability to write fast and correctly.

When I wrote blog posts in the past I used to rely heavily on spell and grammar checkers and my original text used to be terrible. But ircing has helped me get it right from the beginning because in irc you usually don't get a second chance. There's no delete or backspace. The time the window of opportunity is open isn't measured in minutes, it's measured in seconds.

So yes I'm still writing English...

I've got 14 days left until my vacation begins...
